Hi! My name is Megan Parada and I am an 11th grade student at Crescenta Valley High School. In my future, I hope to become a physician, specifically a cardiothoracic surgeon. At my school, I am currently a President of both the Academy of Science of Medicine and the Pre Med Society. I am extremely passionate about health care equity and have had many opportunities to work closely with youthful communities that do not have a wealth of access to educational or healthcare resources. From working at local homeless clinics, volunteering on international medical missions, and developing health advocacy campaigns for underrepresented communities, I have learned about how so many of us are incredibly blessed in this world and that we have the power to help others. I love being involved with my peers and outreaching to local communities to provide health educational resources. The youth of today is the future of tomorrow and I hope to leave a lasting impact in the world by contributing to improving the lifestyles of others with my passion.

I hope to help Youth Health Focus expand its influence in the world by bringing in more ideas to impact youthful communities. As a Varsity soccer player and mentor to younger soccer players, I believe that Youth Health Focus would be very influential reaching out to the athletic community, especially the youthful athletic community. As many sports are outdoors and time consuming, young athletes could greatly benefit from learning about the importance of UV protection, nutrition, as well as that of mental health since balancing athletics with school can prove to be a challenge. Furthermore, I hope that Youth Health Focus will consider partnering with other programs with similar ideals. This can help branch out our impact, since many local and global organizations have events that Youth Health Focus could participate in. For example, combined fundraisers may result in an increased income for this nonprofit, and community and school training and education sessions may have an increased audience. Overall, the main goal remains taking as many feasible efforts as possible to impact the health and well-being of the youth.
