COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that originated in the Wuhan, Hubei province of China. The COVID-19 virus is a betacoronavirus, like MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV, which are two viruses from the similar strain of virus, likely originated in bats. However, the most recent evidence of the origin of the outbreak traces back to animals and other livestock in the Hubei province of China. The first cases were in late December, and it was not until March 11 did the World Health Organization declare COVID-19 a pandemic.
Some symptoms of the respiratory disease COVID-19 include the following: fever, coughing, and shortness of breath(similar to the Common Cold). However, symptoms may not show until after the 14-day incubation period.
Some ways to stay healthy and prevent catching the virus are frequent handwashing; distancing yourself from others, especially when they are coughing; avoiding touching eyes or nose with unclean hands; and avoiding large groups of people, like concerts, parties, etc…
